"I
had been experiencing chronic IT band soreness and tightness
for
about a year, and I knew it was going to continue to make
training for my first marathon difficult. Moreover, I was
afraid it might even lead to something more acute that
would
keep me from competing in the marathon.
Fortunately,
I found Chuck Thomas by posting a plea for referrals on
the
Reston Runners' club bulletin board. Being a seasoned runner
himself, Chuck understands from both an experiential and
professional
standpoint the kinds of trouble spots runners suffer from.
His ability to focus on those areas without having to be "educated" about
a runner's habits (and neuroses!) immediately put me at
ease and gave me a feeling of trust while on his table.
Since
I began seeing Chuck in July, I have developed much greater
body awareness and have successfully remained injury-free
as my marathon training has increased in intensity. Chuck's
insights as a personal trainer and a long distance competitor
have given me a whole new "out of the box" way
of thinking about my running and training regimen.
I feel
that the bodywork Chuck performs on me on a regular basis,
coupled with his observations about distance training, have
made me a healthier and happier runner. I've done myself a
huge favor by making visits to Chuck a regular part of my
training program.
Thanks,
Chuck!"
